Why Pray For Your Pastor
Should we be praying for our church leaders? Janis shares some passages from the book Why Pray For Your Pastor, and encourages us to keep our pastor and church in our prayers.
Why Pray For Your Pastor
I am reading a book called, “Why Pray For Your Pastor” by Richard Ciaramitaro from Windsor Christian Fellowship.
Pastors and all church leaders deal with all types of earthly problems such as marriage and family problems, health, finances and difficult people. They also deal with crises of faith too.
To continue to remain strong and shepherd their flock they need protection or their confidence to ministry will erode and possibly fail.
What is that protection?
Prayer – of course.
The Power Of Prayer
Richard states in his book how he has witnessed how the power of prayer builds a hedge of protection around the church leaders and releases God’s sustaining and renewing power and strength in their lives.
Pastors can’t leave their jobs at the office. They are on the constant call of God.
Even when pastors put up strong boundaries around their families and personal times, they still must listen to God’s call. They need specific prayers to handle it all wisely.
Daily prayer of congregational members will strengthen the leadership of all our churches.
Listen to Romans 15:30-32 from The Message. Paul is speaking:
I have one request, dear friends: Pray for me. Pray strenuously with and for me—to God the Father, through the power of our Master Jesus, through the love of the Spirit—that I will be delivered from the lions’ den of unbelievers in Judea. Pray also that my relief offering to the Jerusalem believers will be accepted in the spirit in which it is given. Then, God willing, I’ll be on my way to you with a light and eager heart, looking forward to being refreshed by your company.
Romans 15:30-32
It’s Our Responsibility
If we pray like this Richard says it will transform everyone – not just the pastors.
He says:
“Your pastor will be strengthened, encouraged, covered, protected, hedged, and shielded by your prayers for them and their family. Your pastor will minister out of a refreshed heart, and will increase in joy as he or she faces the challenges in life knowing that they have a praying congregation standing behind them. I have found that you cannot criticize or complain about someone that you have been truly on your face before God praying for them.”
Richard Ciaramitaro
