Heaven is a Wonderful Place.
Heaven is a wonderful place based on what we read about it in the Bible. Follow Gary McBride as he continues to look at life after death.
God Presents a Choice
In this series about eternity, whether one ends up in Heaven or in hell, we have looked at the fact that God presents a choice, and that choice is made here on Earth. It’s clear from what the Bible says if we believe that Jesus was the truth and told the truth, and that the Bible is the word of God.
One Choice to Get into Heaven
From what the Bible says, there is only one choice that can get you to Heaven. The Bible says there’s no other name under Heaven given to men whereby we must be saved and that name is the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. It’s only through him that we can find salvation and access to Heaven.
Receiving
Think of it this way. If somebody showed up at your home and said I want to come in and live with you, on what basis would you receive them? Perhaps if they were related to you, especially a close relative, you might welcome them into your home and provide for them. Perhaps if you had sympathy on somebody that you knew you might provide for them, but not just anybody could enter your home. And so it is with Heaven. There’s only one way to get in and that’s through the person of the Lord Jesus Christ.
A Lost Eternity
The Bible has more to say about hell than it does about Heaven because God is concerned lest any one end up in a lost eternity. God is not willing that any should perish. He’s long-suffering, wanting men and women to repent and to accept Christ as their personal savior.
A Description of Heaven
The Bible does talk about Heaven and most often the descriptions of Heaven tell us what is not there. The things on Earth that are result of sin are missing from Heaven. In fact, there is no sin in Heaven.
There will be no sorrow in Heaven. None of the things that plague us here on Earth will be in Heaven. It’s a place of perfection. What a wonderful prospect for those who know the Lord Jesus Christ as their personal savior, are born again, and have the assurance that one day they’ll be in Heaven with the Lord Jesus.
Heaven is a Wonderful Place
The Bible talks about the fact that Heaven is a place of wonder and a place where God’s glory is displayed. There is coming a day when this world will be burned up. If you were to read in your Bible in II Peter Chapter 3, it talks about global warming. It is coming. It’s a long way off, but it will happen and this world will be consumed and there will be a new Heaven and a new Earth.
Heaven is Remarkable
But what the Bible says about Heaven is remarkable, and I want to read some verses from the Book of Revelation that describe what Heaven is like. It says in chapter 21 verse 22,
But I saw no temple in it for the Lord God Almighty and the lamb are its temple.
The city had no need of the sun or the moon to shine it for the glory of God illuminated it. The lamb is its light and the nations and those who are saved shall walk in its light, and the kings of the Earth will bring their glory and honour into it.
Revelation 21:22
The Book of Revelation
Then in Chapter 22 it says
And he showed me a pure river of water of life clear as crystal, proceeding from the throne of God and of the lamb. In the middle of the street, on either side of the street was the tree of Life, which bore 12 fruits, each tree yielding its fruit every month, the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. There shall be no more curse, but the throne of God and of the lamb shall be in it, and the servant shall serve him. They shall see his face and his name will be on their foreheads. There’ll be no night there. They need no lamp nor light of the sun for the Lord God will be their light, and they shall reign forever and ever.
Revelation 22:1-5
A Wonderful Prospect
What a wonderful place. What a wonderful prospect. Psalms 16:11 speaks of Heaven, the psalmist looked ahead and he said, in your presence is fullness of joy and at your right hand are pleasures forever more. What more could we ask for? Heaven is far more than what we have here.
Many of us live well on Earth, but there’s no comparison to what we will have in Heaven. To be in the presence of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ for all of eternity, to have none of the failures and pains of Earth will be a wonderful thing. We will have responsibilities in Heaven. It says there in the verses we read we will reign with him.
Ticket Purchased
And so dear friend, where are you headed? Have you purchased your ticket, we might say. Have you gained an access? And the only way is to accept the Lord Jesus Christ as your personal savior. Our prayer is that you would do that today and be assured of a future that’s wonderful, that’s secure, that is waiting for you.
The Lord Jesus said I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place, I will come again and receive you to myself. That where I am, there you may be also. An invitation is open to every person on Earth. Won’t you come today?
