Who Is In Control?- The Authority And Power Of The Ancient Of Days
Do you ever wonder who is in control? Janis looks at the book of Daniel, and shares with us the power and authority of God, the Ancient of Days.
A Look At Daniel
In the past few weeks I have been reading and studying Daniel. A friend asked me to help her work through her new study before it goes to print.
I have found all of it fascinating. I never knew that chapters in Daniel were not in chronological order. As I work through the author’s challenges in her study I can see a clearer picture of the dreams and revelations.
Since I am a visual learner, the images in Daniel excite me. The eagles, lions, bears, leopards, terrifying beasts and statues of gold, silver, iron and bronze help me to see prophecies visually.
The Ancient Of Days
When I need a boost of confidence to know my Lord and Saviour, I can think back to a passage in Daniel 7:13 and 14.
In my vision at night I looked, and there before me was one like a son of man, coming with the clouds of heaven. He approached the Ancient of Days and was led into his presence. He was given authority, glory and sovereign power; all nations and peoples of every language worshiped him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion that will not pass away, and his kingdom is one that will never be destroyed.
Daniel 7:13 and 14.
In this study the author suggested I change every word “dominion” to be the word “authority” and the word “kingdom” to be “territory”.
Listen to it when those changes are made.
In my vision at night I looked, and there before me was one like a son of man, coming with the clouds of heaven. He approached the Ancient of Days and was led into his presence. He was given authority, glory and sovereign power; all nations and peoples of every language worshiped him. His authority is an everlasting authority that will not pass away, and his territory is one that will never be destroyed.
Who Has The Control?
Can you feel the power in this? Can we hear and see Who has the control?
I can see Jesus coming out of heaven.
I know that He sees me.
I know He knows all about me and has authority now and always.
In my own little life I can take hope and strength in these words. God is in control. I don’t have to be in control. I can relax in His presence and authority.
Give Everything To The One Who Has The Authority
Wherever you are today – whatever is happening to you or is on your mind – BREATHE in deeply. God has authority over everything. And His kingdom – that is territory – is one that will NEVER be destroyed.
In looking into the Ancient of Days I found a praise song by Ron Kenoly. As you go about your week, remember these words:
And you Kingdom shall not pass away, oh Ancient of Days.
Until next time, may you give over everything to the One Who has the authority.
